What is Chabad of Kanata?
Chabad of Kanata is a non-profit organization that provides educational, communal and social services to the Jewish community in Kanata. Our mission is to serve those in need and make Jewish learning and tradition accessible and meaningful (and fun) to every Jew in the community, regardless of background or affiliation.
We impact individuals with heart and soul. The little girl who lights her first Shabbat candle. The guests we serve hot chicken soup or a traditional holiday meal. The child whose eyes light up with pride when he reads his first Hebrew word. The hospital patient who receives a warm kosher meal. The person in need who receives a helping hand. Chabad is an open home for every Jew and we are dedicated to serving our community!
How does a Match Campaign work?
Running an operation like Chabad of Kanata requires a major investment of time, energy, and capital. While our Rabbi and Rebbetzin work tirelessly to ensure that no Jew is left behind, the day-to-day expenses of operating a Chabad center can be daunting. Rather than charging membership fees or exorbitant event prices, which could alienate some people, we rely on the generosity of the community that we serve. To that end, four generous donors have come forward with a proposal to help Chabad thrive this year. They will each donate to our center, provided that it is matched by an equal donation from our you, our community. For this few days only, your dollar will have two times the impact!
How can I help?
The days before Rosh Hashanah, when we all ask the Almighty for health, prosperity, success and Nachas from our children in the coming year, it is the most appropriate time to give charity. When we are generous with others, the Almighty answers our requests and generously showers us with blessings in return!
